A WOMAN has been ordered to pay compensation to her two daughters she assaulted.

The 53-year-old, who can't be identified to protect the children, previously pleaded guilty to assaults on each of the girls.

The offences happened in the family home in Clydebank sometime between Christmas 2016 and New Year 2023.

One daughter was dragged down the stairs, seized by the hair and pulled by the hair.

The younger sister was seized by the neck, restricting her breathing, repeatedly pinned against a wall and struck on the head to her injury.

After pleading guilty in September, the mum returned to Dumbarton Sheriff Court on October 22 for sentencing.

Defence solicitor Eugene Boyle said his client was a first offender but with mental health difficulties. She has had no contact with her daughters since the crimes were investigated.

"She hopes at some time in the future she would be able to rebuild her relationship with her children," he said. "She has missed out considerably on that."

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said: "If she assaulted her daughters, perhaps she should pay compensation to her daughters."

Turning to the woman, he said: "I suspect you have gone over and over your behaviour to your daughters and thought about the consequences for them and for yourself.

"You have had a very difficult position, perhaps for the rest of your life."

He ordered the mum to pay £250 in compensation to each of the girls as punishment and an "indication of the remorse you no doubt now feel".
