EMERGENCY service crews are carrying out investigations following the discovery of a suspect item in Clydebank.
Bomb disposal and fire crews as well as police are currently in Dalmuir after a suspicious item was found in Overtoun Court - a high-rise block of flats.
Officers were carrying out searches in the area as part of an "ongoing investigation" when they came across the item.
Several residents have been evacuated and people are being asked to avoid the area.
Callum Richardson, 19, said: "The whole building (Overtoun Court) was evacuated about 2pm. I was in the building when it happened. But I thought it was something stupid so I was going to stay in my flat, then I looked out the window and saw the bomb disposal unit van and thought 'f**k that'.
"A police officer came and chapped my door and asked me to evacuate as soon as possible. They never told me what it was. We've not been given a time when we can get back in. They don't know yet."
Another resident said: "I got home from work about 12.30pm, sat down, had a cup of tea, relaxing, and it was about 1pm cops knocked on the door and said everyone had to evacuate the building. And that's pretty much it.
"I'm from Africa, I'm used to extreme violence. To me, this is just another day, it's no big deal for me.
"There's a lot of old people sitting in the community centre with nowhere else to go. A lot of them are panicking over medication. They wouldn't allow me to take my car out from the front of the building.
"They've not informed us when we can get back in. They don't tell you anything. For me, it's just frustrating, I hadn't even had my lunch."
Trains are "severely" disrupted between Clydebank and Glasgow due to the incident.
ScotRail has warned that all lines are closed at Dalmuir. All services running through this station are cancelled, revised or delayed.
As a result, trains between Partick and Hyndland are "severely disrupted".
The train operator also said trains will terminate and start from Hyndland or Exhibition Centre where possible.
Customers are warned to check their journey before travelling as the changes are expected to last until 6pm tonight.
The discovery of the "suspect" item comes after we reported that cops were searching Overtoun Court over a week ago following the death of a man at a property.
The 58-year-old was found on October 17 and the force previously told the Clydebank Post the death was being treated as ‘unexplained’.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "There is nothing to suggest that the item found in the property is linked to the ongoing investigation into the death of a 58-year-old man."
