Old Kilpatrick residents marked the annual Armistice Day with a service at the local war memorial.

The ceremony took place on Remembrance Sunday in the gardens just off the main A814 road below the Erskine Bridge next to the Glen Lusset Inn.

It is the first year the memorial has been on the list of national Remembrance services, with a wreath being laid on behalf of King Charles.

(Image: Maureen Cummings) The ceremony was anchored by the 1st Old Kilpatrick Boys Brigade, along with the help of the 1st Glen Lusset Scouts.

A piper was also in attendance.

Maureen Cummings, deputy lieutenant for the Office of the Lord Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire, opened up on the importance of the memorial earning national recognition.

(Image: Maureen Cummings) She said: "This is the first year an official wreath has been laid on behalf of the King at the memorial and that will happen every year going forward. 

"It is now on the map and that is amazing for the community.

"The memorial is so special and it is now great that Buckingham Place recognises it nationally.

"It was a really emotional day."

Ian Stormonth, captain of the 1st Old Kilpatrick Boys Brigade, added: "A large number of the local community attended the service which was great to see.

"It is an important tradition that we must keep going."

Several ceremonies took place across West Dunbartonshire on Sunday, November 10, including in Duntocher, Milton and Old Kilpatrick.
