Another July, another washout.
The area's youngsters are entitled to reminisce about June's delightful, warm, sunny days - when they were stuck in the classroom - and understandably question why that weather couldn't wait until school broke out.
Well, we've been doing a bit of reminiscing of our own and once again, dusted off the cobwebs of old boxes in the Clydebank Post office full with editions of the paper from years now long past.
But, what was happening in Clydebank and the surrounding area 15 years ago?
A well-known, much-loved Whitecrook community centre was opening its doors for the very first time, that's what.
Take a look below.
Bags of goodies sent to Malawi
Kind-hearted Bankie volunteers took part in a bag-packing event to help kids in Africa.
Organised by Unity Enterprise — a learning disability project based in Faifley’s Skypoint — the group filled backpacks with pencils, crayons, jotters and various other items and sent them to kids in Malawi.
Kids get well-deserved gift
Kids in Faifley were quids in after a generous gift from a business in the area.
St Joseph’s Primary, Edinbarnet Primary, Auchnacraig and Lennox Early Education Centres were presented with cheques outside the new Co-op store in Faifley.
Teachers and pupils were delighted with the money received.
Drum fun
FAMILIES turned out in their numbers to enjoy an information and fun day.
Held at Drumchapel Community Centre, there were stalls, a magician, arts and crafts, aroma therapy, face painting, raffles and a free buffet.
The information points were provided by the Drumchapel Volunteer Centre, The Fair Share Trust and the Breaking Down Barriers Project.
Young Bankies helping those in need
Big-hearted pupils helped out St Margaret’s Hospice while also having lots of fun at a special fundraiser.
Our Lady of Loretto primary hosted a day packed with games and stalls to raise cash for the Clydebank centre.
Sports events with football and golf proved popular, and games and quizzes were exciting and offered some great prizes.
The school raised more than £200 thanks to the generosity of everyone involved.
Skills on show at football 5s
Teams from Drumchapel, Clydebank and beyond took part in a local 5-a-side tournament with local bragging rights up for grabs.
These youngsters had some summer fun on a sunny day battling it out on the football field.
Whitecrook’s Centre81 opened its doors
The £2.8m Centre81 was opened by Elspeth Attwooll MEP before residents descended on the premises for a Summer festival and barbecue the following day.
Joe Henry, who lives in Whitecrook, told the Post at the time: “It’s a great thing for the people of Whitecrook. “The fact is that the centre is going to be used.
“It will become an asset to the area and hopefully in time can be appreciated by the whole community.”
