THE Edinburgh Christmas Market is back for another year, seeing thousands of people from across the globe descend on the Scottish capital for their annual dose of festive cheer.

Featuring exciting amusements, stalls selling various items and a Santa's grotto for the kids, there is something for everyone.

When will the 2024 Edinburgh Christmas Market take place?

The 2024 Edinburgh Christmas Market kicked off on Friday, November 15 and will run until Saturday, January 4, 2025.

Do I need a ticket to enter the Edinburgh Christmas Market?

According to organisers, entry to the market is free with visitors able to pre-book a selection of rides and activities in advance. 

These include ice skating, The Big Wheel, Santa’s Stories and much more. All of these, including those bookable online, can be paid for at the point of entry.

The Christmas market will be open between the following hours:

East Princes St

  • November 16 – December 23: 10am – 10pm
  • December 24: 10am – 6pm 
  • December 25: CLOSED
  • December 26: 12pm – 8pm
  • December 31: 10am – 6pm / 8pm – 12;30am
  • January 1, 2025: 12pm – 8pm
  • December 27 – January 3, 2025: 10am – 10pm
  • January 4: 10am – 8pm

West Princes St:

  • Nov 16: 12pm – 9pm
  • November 17 – December 23: Saturday & Sunday 10am – 9pm, Monday – Thursday 12pm – 8pm, Fridays 12pm – 8pm/9pm
  • December 24: 10am – 6pm
  • December 25: CLOSED
  • December 26 – December 30: 12pm – 8pm
  • Dec 31: 12pm – 5pm  
  • January 1 – January 4: 12pm – 8pm
