Yoker Captain Gary Bissland insists his side must bounce back from their 4-0 defeat to Ardrossan Winton Rovers by replicating Saturday’s promising first-half performance this weekend.
The Whe Ho were the better team overall in the opening 45 minutes at McKenna Park - forcing the opposing No 1 to pull off a couple of good saves. But they fell behind after failing to deal with a looping cross into the box as the interval approached.
Ardrossan then doubled their lead after the break, before a wonder volley from 25 yards and a fourth goal at the death compounded Yoker’s woes. The result leaves the Whe Ho needing to pull together a string of better results as they look to haul themselves out of the bottom three.
He said: “Three goals out of four could have been avoided. From a defensive point of view there’s plenty to work on. Although the game was 4-0, the first-half performance was really good. They didn’t have a shot in the whole first-half, other than the goal they scored.
“To take that first-half into the game on Saturday, we’d be looking to go and win I think. The past few weeks with a new management team coming in, the response has been really good and the performances have been much improved.
“The next three or four games are really important.” Yoker play Blantyre Vics on February 16 at the KG Stadium. Kick off 2pm.
. I spoke to the manager last night at training and his view is we need to be going and looking to pick up ten points out of next 12 games, based on the fixtures we have got. And hopefully that will start on Saturday with the win.”
