Yoker co-manager Tommy Montgomery is calling on his men to start turning chances into goals after they slipped to their third loss on the bounce.

A nice finish and a penalty in the first two minutes were enough to sink the Whe Ho and seal a 2-0 victory for Blantyre Vics at the KG Stadium in the West Region League One on Saturday.

Yoker, who were reduced to ten men for the final 20 minutes after Jamie Waddell received a second yellow for a late challenge, had come out fighting in the second half - only to see two glaring chances, including an open goal, go abegging.

Montgomery said: “Losing two goals in the first couple minutes really took the wind out of our sails and we struggled to get back in the first half.

“But the positives were that even at 2-0 down we came out in the second half and showed great attitude and got back in the game. We just didn’t take our chances. We just need to get the ball in the net and if we start to do that then confidence will come back.”

Yoker next face Shettleston in the league at McKenna Park on February 23. Kick-off is at 2pm.
