YOKER Athletic have unveiled Shona Crawford as the club’s first Head of Academy.
Shona has taken up the key role of developing young talent at the West of Scotland League club.
The manager of the club’s highly-rated under-16 squad works with the Scottish Youth Football Association’s development programme.
In 2017, she was named McDonald’s Scotland Mum of the Year before going on to win the UK award, and in 2019 she was named Scotland’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero.
Shona said: “I am excited to become Head of Academy at Yoker Athletic.
“It is such a privilege and honour to take on the role and instil values and attitudes to create future generations of players.
“It is a big challenge, but my aim is to supply the first team with well-coached, rounded players that understand the responsibility of playing for Yoker.”
Yoker Athletic president Campbell Bissland said the appointment was a “significant development” in the history of the club.
He added: “We are delighted Shona has agreed to become head of our academy.
“In her short time at the club she has impressed everyone with her coaching ability and enthusiasm.
“Her role is key to the development of the club as we look to make our mark in the Scottish professional football pyramid.”
