Yoker Athletic moved into the second round of the South Challenge Cup after getting past First Division Renfrew in a nine-goal thriller.
Corey Pearson and Evan Dunne had The Whe Ho in a comfortable position but last seasons Second Division champions hit back before the break to equalise through Joe McKeown and Grant Gaddi.
Gordon Robertson’s side took a big step towards getting their name in the hat for the next round when they scored three goals in ten second-half minutes – Shaun Gallacher, Dunne and Nathan Marriot all finding the net.
McKeown pulled another back for Renfrew but Danny McKenna completed the scoring at Holm Park to secure a 6-3 victory.
Yoker picked up a point against Maryhill during the week as goals from Robbie Davidson and Gary McKay earned a 2-2 draw.
Robertson’s men return to league duty on Saturday with a trip to Station Park to face Craigmark Burntonians. Kick-off is at 2.00pm
It was a mixed week for Drumchapel United who followed up last weekends win over Kilwinning Rangers with a midweek defeat to Thorniewood United before recording a 2-0 victory against Cambuslang Rangers.
They host Kilbirnie Ladeside at the Donald Dewar Centre at 2.00pm on Saturday.
