THE captain of a Yoker Athletic golf team has vowed to get revenge on his Clydebank counterparts after his golfers lost out in a recent light-hearted charity match.
Clydebank & District Golf Club hosted the fun-filled encounter that saw 20 golfers representing each West of Scotland League side in a 'Ryder-Cup style' match-up that saw both teams raise £1,000 for St Margaret’s Hospice.
The sides were made up of players from both current squads, ex-players and fans with Clydebank taking home local bragging right with a comprehensive 17-3 victory.
Scott Smith, who captained the Yoker team, admitted it was a "brilliant" day, despite the humbling defeat.
He told the Post: "After organising the golf day in a short period of time, I can’t thank the sponsors and the golfers enough.
"I really appreciate it and thought it was a brilliant day despite the result for Yoker.
"We will bounce back next year."
Stevie McLaren captained the winning Bankie team and wanted to thank everyone who played and the local businesses who backed the event.
He said: "A big thanks to the golf club for hosting the event.
"And, to all the hole sponsors, Primext, German Auto Care, Jim McAlpine, G O B Builders, P&K Civils and BM Interiors.
"Also thanks for all the raffle donations as well. Scott did a great job securing all these."
