A FOOTBALLING sensation has thrown their support behind a local service that is facing cuts in an emotional social media plea.
Ben View, a charity in Dumbarton which has been running for over three decades, claims their funding could be cut up by to £62,000 by the West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership (WDHSCP) at their board meeting on Thursday, March 28.
The group says this funding helps run its lunch club and bathing service.
The proposed cuts could mean both of these services would possibly be unable to continue.
And the charity is calling on WDHSCP to "reverse" this decision.
Scotland hero John McGinn, whose grandfather Jack McGinn, former chairman of Celtic, receives care from Ben View, was keen to highlight the proposed cuts.
In a video posted on the charity's Facebook account, the Aston Villa star said: "Hi everyone. It's John McGinn here.
"I just wanted to post a quick message of support on behalf of myself and the Scotland National Team for Ben View Resource Centre.
"It is a massive part of people's lives, including mine, due to all the selfless hard work they have put in for my granda and I am sure many other people's loved ones.
"So if we can do our best to stop the cuts and keep the Ben View Resource Centre at its peak to keep supporting people.
"Thanks very much and all the best."
