Clydebank boss Gordon Moffat insists the first half of their victory over Dalkeith is the "best" his team has played all season.

The Holm Park side ran out 5-1 winners in the South Challenge Cup clash thanks to a hat-trick from Keir Samson and a double by Nicky Little.

Moffat's men were 5-0 up at half time and he was keen to praise his team's performance.

He said: "We were delighted with the first half and I thought we were really good.

"We have been involved in a lot of similar games this season and the aim has always been to put things to bed early, which we did on Saturday.

"The first 45 minutes were as good as we have played all season, our passing and pressing in particular was at a high level.

"We did drop down a couple of levels later on in the match but we were delighted to kill the game off early doors."

Clydebank remain unbeaten this season, currently sitting top of the West of Scotland League.

And Moffat feels his side are in a good place.

He continued: "Our start to the season has been excellent and hopefully we can continue our good form.

"I have said to the boys that if someone does beat us this season, make sure they have to earn it.

"We always try to approach each game in a way where we are in the best position to win and can keep developing.

"Training this week was outstanding and I think we showed those levels in the game.

"Credit to Dalkeith who made themselves difficult to break down in the second half."

Goal scorers Samson and Little now have 18 strikes between them so far this season and Moffat praised both players for their strong start to the campaign.

He added: "Kier and Nicky have both started the season well and for them to continue to get amongst the goals was brilliant.

"They, along with everyone in the team, will play a role in us hopefully having a successful campaign."

Clydebank return to league action this Saturday when they play host to Cumnock Juniors at Holm Park.

Kick-off is at 2pm.
