Yoker Athletic boss Gordon Robertson believes that his side's final three games of the year will set them up for the remainder of the season.

The Whe Ho have two challenging away fixtures against Maryhill and Maybole in the league and West of Scotland Cup respectively before welcoming Second Division leaders Muirkirk to Holm Park.

Robbo’s side currently sit bang on in mid table of the Second Division, eighth place out of 16 teams and eight points from the promotion spaces and seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Yoker have recorded wins over Forth Wanderers, Cambuslang Rangers and Dalry Thistle in their last four games and despite a disappointing defeat to Whitletts Victoria, Robertson has been satisfied with their recent run of form.

Speaking to the Post, Robertson said: “We’ve been doing okay recently with three wins out of four but I was a bit disappointed with the defeat to Whitletts on a number of levels.

“Whitletts were really direct and we didn’t get to grips with it and surrendered too many opportunities to it.

“Despite that, we went behind against Forth but we came from behind well and we’ve picked up a lot of points from losing positions which shows a lot of character about the players.

“We beat Cambuslang quite comfortably and Dalry had been going well in the division below and we managed to get a good result against them in the cup.

“Even though we’ve been scoring goals recently I think we could be doing more in front of goal, we’ve got to be better against the better teams in the division.

We’re going into quite a tough spell with a couple of away games really good sides and then the league leaders at home.

“We’ve got an okay record against Maryhill which is a tough park and a tough opponent and then we’re away to Maybole from the league above in the cup and Muirkirk have been flying.

“I think after that we’ll know how the season is going to look – it could end up looking pretty good or we might be thinking we’ve got a bit more to do but it will tell us a fair bit about the team before the break.”

Yoker have impressed at the back this term and boast the fourth best defensive record across the league.

Robertson praised his two young goalkeepers for stepping up after an injury to first-team goalkeeper Liam Campbell and admits there is a battle for the gloves.

He added: “We lost Liam Campbell to a broken ankle so we brought in Kyle Pirie, but we then knew we would be losing him for three weeks because he was going on holiday.

“We then brought in Adam Daly who is only 18 and had been playing for the Vale of Leven who had played our last three matches and done very well. He kept a clean sheet against Dalry and has impressed with his decision making and shot stopping.

“Kyle will be back training this week and it will be good to get him back in and there’s going to be a bit of a headache when Liam is back and they are all available.”

Kick-off at Lochburn Park on Saturday is at 1:30pm.
